Women continue to be a neglected lot in our society. Even today, in rural areas especially the situation of women is not conducive for a life of self-respect and self-esteem. Hence, to improve the lot of women in rural areas by empowering them socially, economically and politically this project was envisaged.

GOAL :
Equality, Dignity and improved quality of life for the marginalized women.

Target Area :
7 Panchayats in Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod Districts

Objectives :
- Forming Self Help Groups and strengthening the groups for self-sustainability.
- Empowering the women socially, economically and politically through a series of trainings on related topics.
- Ensuring self-reliance of the members through income generating activities.

ACHIEVEMENTS :
* 211 sanghas with a membership of 3321.
* 13 grassroots level and 3 taluk level Federations.
* 292 women members are functioning as members of School Development and Monitoring committees.
* Total savings in the sanghas is Rs 3,535,141/-.
* 640 women have started income generating activities.
* All festivals are celebrated in common and various cultural activities are also held by the sanghas.
