The CODP Mangalore in collaboration with Hongirana Network organized a District level PLHIV Meet at CODP-ISD on 5th October 2009.
Govt. officers from the health department viz. DHO Dr Jaganath; DMO Dr Prabhudev; DAPCO Dr Kishore; ART Medical Officer Dr Kiran; ART Incharge Dr Eeranna; KSAPS Officer Mr Matty and CODP Director Fr Onil D’Souza were present on the dais.
The inaugural programme was immediately followed by interactive session between the govt. officers and PLHIV participants. The main demands put forward by the participants were to start taluk-wise link ART centres, to provide nutritious food to needy PLHIVs at ART centres and make available govt. schemes like Ashraya yojana, BPL card, Widow pension etc., to PLHIVs.
The govt. officers responded well and assured the participants that their demands will be placed before the District Commissioner for his positive consideration.
Earlier in the day Mrs Roopa welcomed the participants, Mr Jeevan of CODP compeered the programme and Mrs Prema proposed the vote of thanks. In all 80 members participated in the meet.
