International Women’s Day was celebrated by Sowhardha Maha Sangha, Perla on 8th March 2009. The day’s programme was marked by a Rally followed by cultural programme and competition on variety entertainment. The function was inaugurated by Ms Jalajakshi, President, Spandana Mahila Okkoota and presided over by Mr Ravikumar Crasta, CODP. Around 125 members participated.
A similar programme was held by Hosajeevana Maha Sanga, Kalathur on 12.3.2009. Cultural programme was presented by members of the mahasangha. Groups of women also participated in the various competitions after which prizes were distributed to the winners. The programme was inaugurated by Mr M.S. Thomas, President, Puthige Grama Panchayat and presided over by Mr Ravikumar Crasta, CODP. In all 85 members were present.
